The German solar solution provider Mobisol has installed solar to over 50,000 low-income earners’ home and businesses in Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya.
Speaking over the weekend, Mobisol Tanzaia Marketing Manager, Allan Rwechungura said that one of the company’s goals is to enable children in remote areas with no light, have access to information via radio, television and Internet for educational purposes.
“We also focus on conserving the environment while, at the same time, the electricity we provide offers an opportunity for people to utilize it for various income generating activities which improve their economic well-being,” he said.
Mobisol also provides a “rent-to-own” model where customers with solar home systems make monthly payments via mobile money in three years period, dailynews.com added.
In the business sector, the availability of appliances such as multiple phone chargers, could help create jobs for the majority of unemployed youth in the rural areas.
