Tanzanian President, John Magufuli took to the streets and organized a clean up campaign in Dar es Salaam during the country’s independence day.
The clean up campaign is being considered to be a representation of his anti-corruption crusade which he began right after winning the October 25th elections.
The President was seen collecting litter close to a fish market near the presidential palace. This attracted scores of fishermen to partake in the cleaning exercise along side their humble president.
“Let us work together to keep our country, cities, homes and workplaces clean, safe and healthy,” President Magufuli said.
The President also cancelled the country’s Independence Day celebration as they fought against cholera outbreak with health officials estimating last month’s outbreak to have infected about 10,000 people.
